Sparse lashes & brows are a problem that arises naturally as we age.
So how do we combat the problem?
Sparse lashes and brows are also a problem that arises because of:
- Poor hygiene
- Forgetting to remove makeup
- Waterproof mascara
- Overuse of damaging chemicals or processes
- Pulling or tugging at lashes
- Poor diet
Just think about all the times you ripped off those falsies off at night! Ugh. All of that mistreatment does permanent damage to your lashes and brows.
The problem with mistreating your lashes and brows is that such treatment not only causes trauma to the follicle (the base of the hair) causing it not to grow back, but the trauma can also trigger the surrounding area not to grow either. So we just went from 1 plucked-out lash or brow hair to a bald spot in about 5 seconds flat.
*Aging is particularly troublesome, and we'll hit that hard below! Now that you know what causes the problem, let's talk about the science of hair growth, so we can understand how to use natural ingredients--or an enhancer like WINK--to enhance what we've already got.
THE SCIENCE OF HAIR GROWTH
When your hair isn't growing, it's either resting or well, dead. If it's dead, there's no bringing it back. If it's resting, we have a chance to stimulate the follicle back into the growing phase.. but how?
The resting phase is called "telogen" while the growing phase is called "anagen"
Research shows that it all starts with essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids have been found to increase prostaglandin/prostaglanoid production in individuals with a deficiency (Medical Hypotheses, 1980). Prostaglandins stimulate eyelashes to enter and prolong the growth (anagen) stage.
This means, if you supplement your eyelash and eyebrow follicles with essential fatty acids, you may be stimulating prostaglanoid production naturally, which would result in fuller, longer lashes as well as fuller brows.
But one caveat: Back to the research about EFAs and Prostaglandins: Who has a deficiency? Actually, it turns out, our prostaglandin production declines as we age (source). Since prostaglandins are produced locally (source), essential fatty acids produce prostaglandins, and prostaglandins help grow lashes and brows.
How essential fatty acids (EFAs) can stimulate dormant follicles to grow.
That bad news? Your body cannot produce essential fatty acids by itself.
The best way to supplement your body with essential fatty acids is by applying them topically to the area, with a product like WINK. Applying essential fatty acids topically to the area(s) where you'd like to see improvement is the most effective method to get the results you want.
The modern diet is extremely deficient in Omega 3 fatty acids relative to Omega 6s. In fact the average diet has way too much Omega 6: on average 4x too much relative to Omega 3s. WINK is here to fix that - at least for your lashes and brows!
WINK is a mix of Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 essential fatty acids based on our ancestral diet, from a variety of natural nut and seed oils.
I've been using Wink for about 4 years now. I have eyebrows, (where many women of a certain age) have none!
So far I find this product to be good. I have no negative comments to post. It’s helping my lashes
I don’t know where to begin, but thank you thank you THANK YOU! I went through a rough period late last summer where too much hair got plucked/waxed and my eyebrow tails were completely missing. I’ve never been horrified and was in near tears almost every day when I would wipe my makeup off to see the empty area. Especially right after I got engaged and had so many festivities and vacations! I didn’t know what to do. Microblading was definitely not in my budget, I was getting overwhelmed reading up on different products until finally in November (wish it was sooner) I came across an article about Wink then spent hours reading reviews until I figured I had nothing more to lose (I mean, half my eyebrows were already missing!!) so I placed an order. Almost immediately I started seeing results. I will admit after a week or two of applying religiously, I did start getting lazy and I went away on a trip with no private room so there was no way I was risking removing my drawn on eyebrows at any point. After that trip, I was once again desperate as drawing on eyebrows every day is exhausting and frustrating so I got back to my little miracle tube every single day. I saw more hair regrowth in my short time of using Wink than in the months I spent doing research on how to grow hair back. My first tube lasted me well over 2 months and I just reorded my 2nd and my eyebrows are almost back to their full, bushy self they once were! I can’t tell you how many times I cried thinking of my upcoming wedding and for how long I’ve been putting off doing my makeup trial because I was dreading the eyebrow portion alone. Even once my eyebrows are fully grown back to my liking, I will still continue to use this product! It is well worth its price and will last you longer than you think. My eyebrows have grown back in long and healthy! I’ve been tracking my 2nd order like a hawk and even paid for express shipping because I am that excited to get back on my daily regimen and achieve the b...
I usually don't spend time with reviews, but this product is great and it does what it claims. My eyebrows never fully grew back after chemotherapy, but after just using one tube of this product over a few months they are already on their way to looking great again. I am so pleased that this product worked and I'm so happy to have brows again!
I have more dense lashes and brows -- it's especially noticeable on my brows, closer to the middle of my forehead, where the hairs used to be more sparse and are now more dense. I also like having a little bedtime routine when I put this on :) I'm just waiting to see how long one will last me, then I plan to purchase with a subscription.
